About us
We’re the parent teacher association of Hillside Primary School.
Who we are
Every parent, carer and member of staff at Hillside is automatically part of the PTA. A small committee of volunteers organises things, but the PTA is all of us — and the more people who join in, the more we can do.
What we do
We run events throughout the year — discos, film nights, cake sales, the Christmas Fair and the Summer Fair — and use the money raised to pay for the extras the school budget can’t stretch to.
Before we spend anything, we ask the headteacher and staff what would make the biggest difference to the children. The committee then agrees how much to spend, and we publish what we’ve bought and how much it cost on our impact page.
How we’re run
The PTA is run by a committee elected at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) each autumn. The committee’s officers — the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary — are also the charity’s trustees.
We keep careful accounts: every payment is approved by two people, cash is always counted by two people, and our accounts are presented at the AGM.
Meetings
Committee meetings are held about twice a term, usually in the school hall. Everyone is welcome to come along — just get in touch first so we know to expect you.
